Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition where the body’s immune system attacks and destroys beta cells in the pancreas.
As a result, little or no insulin is produced. It usually appears in childhood or adolescence and requires daily insulin therapy.
Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is caused by insulin resistance, the body still produces insulin, but the cells don’t respond effectively.
It is often linked to lifestyle factors and typically develops in adulthood. It may be managed with lifestyle changes, medication, or insulin.
